Swimming, playing games or simply doing nothing - going to the beach is an absolute must during a holiday in Pays Bigouden !

No sooner have you arrived at your holiday home, than the children are ready with their buckets and spades ! So take your towel and a good book and go with them to one of the many superb beaches in Pays Bigouden ; here are 5 of them, all perfect for families !

 Penhors, fun and relaxation

Penhors beach on the Bay of Audierne is a paerfect place for safe family fun. As well as being a great surf spot, for learners, it is also one of 10 Blue Flag beaches in Finistère, recognised for the quality of their water, environment and services.

The Ecole de Surf de Bretagne offers surfing lessons, courses for children and adults plus equipment rental for everyone. For a breathtaking fun experience for all the family, go sand yachting along the beach !

But there's still more to come ! After a picnic on the beach or a crepe at one of the restaurants overlooking the sea, sit down on the sand and, while the children are building spectacular sand castles, enjoy the magnificent sight of the sun setting over the sea !

Plage de Ruvein beach, Plovan, an endless beach !

It is easy to wonder where this beach ends... in fact it stretches for almost 10 kilometres over several communes so there is more than enough room for everyone including kite-flying enthusiasts !

In the distance you can see the lighthouses of Penmarc'h to the south and the Pointe du Raz to the north. Behind the beach lie reedbeds and saltwater ponds, typical of the wild, unspoilt scenery of the Bay of Audierne.

Although much of the beach is covered at high tide leaving just a ridge of pebbles, as the tide goes out it reveals a vast expanse of sand, perfect for a game of football or a sandcastle competition, the choice is yours !

Charm and tranquillity at Sainte-Marine

These quiet beaches are sheltered from the north winds with calm waters, ideal for young children, and some have lifeguards.

At Sainte-Marine, the beaches of Pen Morvan and Kermor have wonderful views of the bay as far as Ile-Tudy. The beaches are quiet and the water is warm, which is probably why they are popular with local people, but don't tell everyone !

After a swim, don't forget to go for a family stroll around the harbour at  Sainte-Marine to visit the abri du marin or have a crêpe at a pavement café.

Paradise on the beaches of Loctudy !

Loctudy has six family-friendly beaches including Langoz which has lifeguards. Many visitors and locals love  Plage des Sables Blancs beach with its wonderful views of the Rochers d'Inizan.  Turquoise sea, blue sky, clear water, if you're looking for a paradise beach for your family, you've found it ;-) !

After the beach, why not try tubing, flyboarding or jet-skiing ? That way you can have a relaxing and a thrilling afternoon in Loctudy !

Ile-Tudy, THE beach for families !

The beach at Ile-Tudy stretches for 5km as far as Sainte Marine. Thanks to its gentle slope, this family-friendly beach with fine, white, shiny sand is ideal for swimming . Parents can be reassured as the beach has lifeguards in summer. There are also showers and car parks. All along the beach, a line of trees offers shade for a picnic on the grass or on the tables provided.

At the end of the afternoon, walk along to Ile-Tudy harbour and spend the evening at one of the  restaurants with a terrace. ENJOY !
